What month is it again?

Ever since I moved to another hemisphere I get confused about the Seasons.

I  think I have managed to master the Winter/Summer stuff now. I'll never quite get used to Christmas in the heat, but at least I now know that it's Summer in December.

Now when it comes to Spring and Autumn I still struggle...

I get those blank moments when I can't recall what month it is!
I know it's Spring but my brain gets very muddled trying to work out why it's not April!

Signs in the shops tell me what Summer fashions are the must- haves this year....
yet I'm mentally preparing for Autumn as it's September!!

Just when I think I'm getting there - in comes a curved ball in the form of this...

Today we saw Christmas decorations in the shops - in September?

It got me again this year...how can it be Christmas, it's just starting to get warm?
We've just finished with Winter.

Choosing some ballerina decorations for her dancing teachers.

Are we the first customers in this Christmas shop I wonder?

Giggles as this laid back reindeer sang and tapped his foot to "Don't worry, be happy".

Not very Christmassy, but very Australian!

Happy Autumn Spring.

  2. Hello Beth:
We could cope with Christmas on the beach but, whatever hemisphere one is in, Christmas decorations in December are just too depressing. The commercialisation of Christmas just does seem to get a shade worse with every year that passes, that is certainly the case in Britain. As we divide our time between Brighton and Budapest, the contrast could not be more acute. Indeed, even Christmas trees are not put up before Christmas Eve in Hungary.

We have discovered your most lively and eclectic blog via the lovely Linda at 'Flowers on my Table' and have enjoyed ourselves enormously reading through previous posts. We have signed up as Followers to keep in touch with your exploits as you move into Spring!!

  3. I know what you mean...I still contemplate having a 'barbie' after xmas...then I remember...dah it'll probably be snowing!! I think the hardest thing is that after xmas everyone goes back to work and school....then there's January...stretching off into the freezing, cold, dreary distance....followed by February...with yet more freezing, cold, drearyness! p.s. not really complaining...think I have one more English winter in me.

  4. I am already confused enough myself, and then I read your blog about being confused and I got myself all doubly confused and totally forgot where I was even living, thinking "Oh I want to go to Myers and buy stuff too!"
I suffer EXACTLY the same problem as you. But reversed, obviously. It's like jet-lag, that lasts for years.

  5. I bet it would be confusing for you! It must take a long time to adjust to the back to front seasons. I saw Christmas deccys the other day. As much as I love Christmas I think September is just a little early!

  6. I hear you. Sometimes I get severe attacks of confusion. And I too was taken about by Xmas decorations in Myers last week, but also found myself thinking I must buy the teachers presents soon!

  7. That would be confusing! I don't think I could get used to my Spring birthday being in Autumn either. Shame on them for getting Christmas out too early :) XOL

  8. It must be really difficult to get used to different season's, I just can't imagine it! Sibs looks absolutely beautiful in these pics. Thankyou for your lovely comments on my last post. I think Yorkshire was good to both of us. I don't know the name of the auctioneer Beth. Your new doors look lovely by the way. Have a fantastic weekend. Lots of love to you, Linda x

  9. Oh I agree Beth, Christmas decorations in September is ridiculous and I don't like how the shops display them this early.
    Sets my panic button off!
